A new report has revealed that Algarve is the place most Brits would choose for a second home in the sun. According to the research, the number of UK homeowners with properties abroad is set to double over the coming years, and Portugal topped the poll of destinations.
The Algarve has been elected as the best destination for golf in 2006. The prize was awarded yesterday, 8th December at International Golf Travel Market (IGTIM) which is being held in Gran Canaria this year.
This is an award that the Algarve has won previously, back in 2000. For Algarve Golfe, winning this prize again serves to strengthen “the prestige of the Algarve as a destination for golf”.
The Algarve was chosen by 190 golf tour operators from 35 countries. The voters took the following criteria into account when making their decision: client satisfaction, quality of golf courses and accommodation, value for money, professionalism of proprietors, support of the local tourist industry and availability of tee times.
